If you’re a reader of this blog, you know at in home engagement sessions are my favorite. I even wrote a blog post detailing 8 reasons you should have an in home engagement session! I adore in home sessions because they are often more intimate. Intimacy is something I strive for in all my photographs, and I love that having a session in a couples’ home gives me an extra boost in that regard.
So when I saw Jocelyne’s amazing Parisian apartment the first night we were in Paris, I knew we had to take some photographs of her and Thomas in the apartment. Jocelyne’s job took her to Paris a few months prior, so she’d been in the apartment for a while now. Thomas took some time to wrap up his job, so he was actually only in Paris a day before us.
This definitely wasn’t a traditional one hour engagement session. Since Thomas is one of my best friends, Sam and I basically spent three days exploring Paris with him and Jocelyne, taking photos of the two of them along the way. We started the day with brunch at Jocelyne’s favorite cafe. Unfortunately, we actually had a fairly difficult time finding restaurants on this trip. Turns out most of Paris shuts down in August. Luckily, Laduree and Pierre Herme were both open and we were able to eat a /lot/ of macarons, haha! Pierre Herme ended up being my favorite because of the bold, unique flavors. If you’re there and they have the lime and yogurt macaron? Get at least two, because they are amazing!
We started the day at Petit Palais and ended it at Pont de bir Hakeim, but we took a break in the middle and went back to the apartment. I loved the simplicity of the apartment and all of the white contrasting with the hardwood floors. It also had the most gorgeous light at mid day! Perfect for making the most of our day without sacrificing pretty light.
