And thanks for stopping by! My work reflects my desire to add some whimsy, enchantment and beauty to the world. It is my way of sharing a bit of my heart. I love the laughter and smiles, but I am also drawn to the quiet, intimate moments that are filled with emotion. My goal is to capture the essence of your wedding day, all the little things that come together to paint the big picture.

welcome to my blog...

I first met Jonathan in Australia on the World Solar Challenge (a solar car race across the continent). A couple years later, he took a job at Google X and he and Anna moved to the Bay Area. They road-tripped from Minnesota and one of their stops along the way was Glacier National Park. They both fell in love with it, so when they began planning their wedding, they decided to have it at Glacier! Jonathan and Anna actually hired me to be their wedding photographer months ago, but we decided to wait for consistent good weather for their engagement session. Even though most people complain about losing an hour of sleep with spring forward/Daylight Savings Time, I actually love it! It means that sunset is later in the day and I can actually take sessions during the work week. Anna works on weekends, so we scheduled their engagement session for a Monday evening. I’m so excited to share their beautiful Bay Area engagement session with you.

Since I’ve already told you they are having their wedding at Glacier National Park, you won’t be surprised to hear that Jonathan and Anna love the outdoors. They knew immediately that they wanted an outdoor engagement session with lots of green. We’ve been having a very rainy winter, which has actually been wonderful for the hillsides. I suggested this gorgeous open space preserve up in Woodside and we crossed our fingers the hills would still be green. Later in the year, everything turns golden, which is also stunning, but not quite the look Jonathan and Anna were going for. Luckily, it rained just a few weeks before and this location was beautifully lush and green…. and filled with thistles, haha!

I’d taken photos at this location just a month or two ago, and the hills were covered with grass. When we arrived, we found almost knee high weeds that were minefields of thistles. On the other hand, there were also some lovely clover patches and other wildflowers, so it was a pretty good trade, haha. I do wish I had worn better shoes as there were definitely some cries of “Ow, ow ow” as I tried to get the perfect angle 😉 Luckily, Jonathan and Anna were super patient with me and totally rocked the session despite claims they would be awkward in front of the camera 😉
